Holiday 2010 (Mallacoota Vic)
Holiday 2010 (Mallacoota Vic)
Easter at Warwick's house in Mallacoota for 4 days.
Leaving after work on Wednesday afternoon we had a relatively good run up and arrived a little after 10pm that evening. On the return leg home on Monday we encountered some of the worst traffic I have ever seen with one section taking over an hour to travel a little over 20kms from Rosedale to Traralgon.
Fiona, Wendy and Warwick were also staying in Mallacoota for the Easter weekend and arrived at Warwick’s house a few hours before us after spending a few days exploring Canberra.
Having explored and photographed Mallacoota and the surrounding area on our numerous visits and battling the Flu the motivation to take photos was low, so a large portion of the pictures on this trip are taken by Fiona, Catherine and Caitlin.

Arriving at approx 10:30pm on Wednesday night and then proceeding to have a few drinks and catch up on news, we didn’t actually crawl into bed until the wee hours of the following morning.
With energy levels low we did manage to wander down to Bastion Point and along the beach to where the mouth to the lake has recently been opened before walking back to Warwick’s house. |

There were 2 places I hadn’t visited and both were on the hit list for this trip to Mallacoota.
Our first stop was Neville Falls which is just North East of Cann River and the road travels across the top of the falls with a reasonably steep gradient in and out of the river. Wendy decided to go swimming whilst the rest of us went for a cuppa instead.
From here we made our way to the Drummer Rainforest walk to stretch our legs.
Heading back to Mallacoota we stopped at Genoa Falls which is unmarked due to people stealing the Water Dragons and I always seem to miss the turn off and never visit. Initially it appeared that there weren’t going to be any Water Dragons to be seen but after 10 minutes or so we sighted 3 of them.

After visiting the Mallacoota market we made our way to Pebbly Beach which is just before the turn off for Ship Wreck Creek. We were surprised to see so many Blue bottle jellyfish along the shore line.
Caitlin has been practicing her skipping and had challenged everyone to a skipping competition. Caitlin needless to say was the winner but the dark horse for this competition was Warwick who put on a gallant effort. |

Sunday, 4 April 2010
Easter Sunday was the usual hive of activity with the Easter Bunny hiding close to 100 Easter Eggs for Michael and the girls to find.
After consuming copious amounts of chocolate we decided a walk might be in order, but on leaving it began to rain so we made our way down to Ship Wreck Creek where the weather surprisingly was dry and sunny.
From we made our way to the Pub for a beer and to listen to the local band who were playing there. |
