Upper Jamieson Hut
Name: Upper Jamieson Hut
Located: Eight Mile Creek, off Brocks Rd.
GPS: S37 15.45 - E146 26.90
History:The hut was erected by Fred Fry, a local bushman and ranger for the Forests Commission, in 1938-40. Fry subsequently built several other huts in the area, including his own hut at Howqua Hills and that of Helen Schuster. Like Dale before him (see Tomahawk Hut), Fry camped there as part of his wide-ranging patrol work for the Forests Commission and during the 1938-39 season when he grazed his own cattle (apparently unsuccessfully) on the Lickhole/Jamieson River lease.

 In April 2007 restoration work was carried out by the DSE which included a new roof, new posts, replacement of some of the wall slabs, a new floor, a new chimney and a new veranda.

 On the weekend of the 25th and 26th of May 200, Gavin, Ray, Ladas and Stevo headed out to check the work carried out by DSE.

 On the Sunday of the Queens Birthday weekend, a group of us,
(84RR, Hiline, River, Sschmez, Grumpybastard, mcrover, 953 & friends
Sambo, Shane, Marcus, Dave, Darren, Peter & Lyn and the Grubb) ventured up to the "Upper Jamieson Hut" for our first working project.
Whilst we were there, we installed guttering to the verandah side of the roof, spread gravel around the verandah area, we retrieved from a gravel pit 8km from the site, replaced a broken perspex window, ran a downpipe and water runoff for the chimney, sprayed some invading noxious weeds, raked up leaves and other debris then burnt it all.
