History: The first Mansfield Forestry Commission officer, Arthur Dale, built this hut among 1926 regrowth forest. Timber worker, Jimmy Walker, Dale's grandson confirms that Dale carted the materials to the site with pack horses in the late 1920s and erected the hut. Dale spent some 16 days building the hut `on Tomahawk Ridge' from the 1 June 1927, just before the winter season.
